I start out painting feelings mostly - always the elusive thing - set off by
a line of poetry or some fleeting vision in a mirror. A friend could wear a
blue dress of a particularly striking hue, and years later it would suddenly
emerge in a painting. Sometimes faces of people I haven't seen in years seem
to arrive unbidden; images tumble about and are caught in odd juxtapositions." |
